According to the decision, issued by Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, the tourism area will cover two districts, Mộc Châu and Vân Hồ, over an area of more than 200,000ha. The area will include a resort centre, an eco tourism centre and a recreational centre, which take up about 1,500 ha.

The project aims to exploit natural resources and ethnic culture as well as serve as a legal basis to manage and control the development of the tourism zone.

Together with community tourism services, dairy cow farms and high-tech flower farms have been popular tourism hubs. Visitors can enjoy local delicacies like grilled stream fish and sticky rice baked in bamboo tubes.
