The works are aimed at ensuring safety for the Hanoi-Dong Dang railway line, which runs across the historic bridge. The closure will take effect from 9 am on March 28 and last until May 27, a total of 60 days.
During this period, all road traffic will be prohibited in both directions, including access from Bo De Ward and Hoan Kiem Ward.
Motorbikes and non-motorised vehicles needing to cross the Red River are advised to follow alternative routes via Long Bien 1 and Long Bien 2, continuing along Long Bien-Xuan Quan route before accessing Chuong Duong Bridge.
Those travelling from Yen Phu and Hang Dau should take Tran Nhat Duat Street to the roundabout at the foot of Chuong Duong Bridge, while vehicles from Tran Quang Khai and De 401 are also directed to the same junction for diversion.
Bicycles will still be allowed in both directions on the mixed-use lane of Chuong Duong Bridge.
The Department of Construction has instructed relevant agencies to monitor traffic flow and ensure safety throughout the construction period, while responding promptly to public feedback to minimise disruption.
