ENVIRONMENT AND TOURISM

Welcome of the Northern Wilds

26 July 2010 | 11:22:00 AM

The Thien Cam Tourism Zone is famous for desolate and unspoiled beaches, white soft sand and sapphire colored sea. In addition, Thien Cam has attracted a lot of tourists thanks to its multiform rock formations.

Climbing on the 108m high mountain, tourists can have a panoramic view of the tourism zone or even fishing boats floating on the sea.

The path along the beach leads us to the Cua Nhuong fishing village. By motor boat, tourists can go to Bai Lai area, home to numerous beautiful caves. Local people come here to catch Cu Ky birds, a specialty of Thien Cam. In the summer, the Cu Ky fly here from the north, across the Truong Son Mountain Range. With just a net, skillful hunters can catch hundreds of Cu Ky birds. Cu Ky birds are as big as a chicken with black or blue feathers, and it makes a popular dish.
Typically, in Gieng Tien (Fairy Well), tourists can enjoy mineral water which runs from groundwater streams from deep in mountains. According to legend, long ago, in summer, fairies went to Thien Cam and bathed in Gieng Tien.
Aware of Thien Cams great tourism potential, the Ha Tinh Province Peoples Committee in early 2010 issued Decision 4210/QD-UBND with regard to the development project of the Thien Cam National Tourism Zone. The decision will create a momentum for tourism development in Thien Cam and Ha Tinh province in general. The Thien Cam National Tourism Zone is striving to become a major northern tourism center in the future.
According to the project, the Thien Cam National Tourism Zone which is located on 1,557ha will include one part of Thien Cam town, Cam Duong commune, Cam Linh district and another part in Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen district. It is expected that Thien Cam will attract 10,000 tourists by 2020 and 20,000 tourists by 2025.
In the first stage from now until 2015, the provinces tourism will invest in improving beaches in the north of Thien Cam with total capital of VND5 trillion. In the second stage (2016-2020), beaches in the south of Thien Cam will be focused on, with an 18 hole golf course built and other sporting activities developed at a total cost of VND7 trillion. The third stage lasts from 2021-2025 which investment in handicraft villages in Cam Nhuong. A project for a monorail to transport tourists is capitalized at VND4.5 trillion.
