Vietnam and Korea share experiences with environmental planning and conservation of biodiversity in environmental impact assessment

(VACNE) - On 15/8/2013, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environtment (VACNE) and Korean Society of Environmental Impact Assessment (KSEIA) held a Conference on this topic, with the participation 50 Viet Nam and Korea experts.

This is the traditional activities of the two associations, to share the experience with environmental impact assessment (EIA) - a very important tool in environmental management, as well as conservation of biodiversity in environmental impact assessment.

 Attending
the Conference on Vietnam site  there were  Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, VACNE President, Dr.. Le Cong Luong, VUSTA Director of the Office of the of Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations , Prof. Dr. Vu Hoan, President of Hanoi  Union of Science and Technology Associations,  Dr. Duong Thanh An, Director of Policy and Legislation Department (Viet Nam  Environment Protection Administration) and many environmental experts and managers.

On Korean side, there were the President Jung Jong - Guan and 11 specialists of KSEIA, numerous of officers and employees of the Korea - Vietnam Environmental  Cooperation Office in Hanoi.

16 reports of the two countries were presented and tens speakers were presented at the Conference around the issues related to environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment in environmental protection and sustainable.development. The experience of the two countries on issues of land, water, air, biodiversity, climate change and oil spills was shared.
 
In this Conference, participants discussed many important issues related to environmental impact assessment and shared experiences in the implementation of laws related to this area.

In  welcome speech, Dr.. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, President of VACNE highly appreciated the Conference and expressed appreciation before enthusiastic participation, contributions impartiality of Korean friends, and hope this activities, as well as the exchange of scientific information between the two association will be maintained frequently.

For its part
, VACNE will try and take the initiative with the highest possible, for the next workshop as well as training camp next between 2 associations to get the more results.
