A recent survey indicated that none of the roads in Sam Son satisfy the new 30km/h speed limit signage requirement. Consequently, all four-wheeled electric vehicles must suspend passenger transport operations.
According to Sam Son City’s authorities, before making the decision, they had considered plans to create dedicated lanes for electric vehicles and enforce a 30km/h speed limit.
However, the proposal was deemed impractical, as most local roads are too narrow. Lowering speed limits on main roads for electric vehicles was seen as likely to cause congestion and harm local economic and tourism development.
Sam Son People’s Committee have gathered feedback from transport businesses and drivers and forwarded it to authorities for consideration and the development of suitable solutions in the near future.
