Environmentally responsible tourism

15 April 2013 | 07:51:00 AM

In recent years, the local tourism development has dealt with living parts of the natural environments, focusing on socially responsible travel and environmental sustainability, helping to raise public awareness of environmental protection.

Last week, volunteers wearing T-shirts reading “I love green” “For a clean environment” and “No littering” joined the tourism program themed “For a green and clean tourism environment” held by Vietravel in association with the Department of Culture, Sport & Tourism, Nha Trang City Communist Youth Union and Imexpharm Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (JSC).

300 volunteers included over 250 tourists who were staff of Imexpharm; Nha Trang City Communist Youth Union members; leaders and staff of Vietravel, Nha Trang Branch, etc.

The participants on dual drive bicycles began their trip at 2-4 Square and went along main streets such as Tran Phu, Le Loi, Hai Ba Trung, Phan Chu Trinh, Le Thanh Ton, Nguyen Chanh, Hoang Hoa Tham, Tran Quang Khai, Biet Thu and so on.

All the volunteers picked up all trash found on the way and put it in zero-plastic bags. Dang Ha Minh, a secretary of Loc Tho Ward Youth Union says the clean-up campaign will raise public awareness of environmental protection.

Besides, sellers at Dam Market were given environmentally-friendly bags with explanation for their benefits.
