Dong Nai seeks approval for forest-crossing road to Binh Phuoc

03 April 2025 | 07:22:00 AM

Authorities of the southern province of Dong Nai are seeking prime ministerial approval for a forest-crossing road and bridge project to link the neighbouring province of Binh Phuoc.

Under the proposal, the project’s first phase has a total investment of VND11 trillion (USD429 million). It includes the reconstruction of Ma Da Bridge and a four-lane road, covering a total length of 76 kilometres.

Of the total investment capital, VND220 billion will be used for Ma Da Bridge construction and the remainder will be for the road.

The project running through Ma Da Forest will start from Binh Phuoc’s Dong Xoai City and end at HCM City’s Belt Road 4.

The section going through Dong Nai will be 44 kilometres long, including 27 kilometres to run through Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve.

Ma Da Bridge was destroyed during the war with only two bridge piers remaining on the Binh Phuoc side.

With much of the terrain covered by forest and divided by the Ma Da River, there is currently no direct road linking Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc, even though the two provinces share a 160-kilometre border.
