Strategic projects include several artificial islands, with key zones ranging from 450 to 1,080 hectares, aimed at turning Rach Gia into a modern, multi-sector hub on Vietnam’s western coast.
Rach Gia’s natural land area was previously constrained by terrain and dense canal networks, limiting urban expansion. Sea reclamation has created new space for housing, commerce, services, public amenities and coastal parks.
The ward is being positioned to link with Phu Quoc and Ha Tien as a regional growth triangle for the marine economy and a core node in An Giang’s urban network.
Priority projects include upgrading Rach Gia Airport, improving key highways and expressways, and advancing a coastal route linking Ha Tien, Rach Gia and Bac Lieu.
An Giang is planned as five sub-regions, ranging from a western marine economy zone to Phu Quoc as a special island tourism city.
