Commencement of the project to treat dioxin contaminated soil in A Luoi district (Thua Thien - Hue)

(VACNE) _On the morning of October 2, at A So airport (A Luoi district, Thua Thien - Hue province), the High Command of Chemistry (Ministry of National Defense) started the project to treat dioxin contaminated soil, with the participation of Thuong General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defense, together with a large number of representatives of ministries and branches at the central level (including Vietnam Association of Natural Resources and Environment Protection), international organizations in Vietnam and local authorities.

With the support of the authorities and local authorities, from 2017 - 2018, VACNE cooperated with BJC Company, Institute of Oceanography, Institute of Toxicology (Korea) to implement detoxification test. using microbiological technology here and report the results to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and A Luoi District People's Committee.


Survey results by experts: polluted area is about 5 ha, polluted depth is 0.7m on average. The total volume of contaminated soil to be treated is 35,000 m3, of which about 6,600 m3 of contaminated soil has a pollution concentration of over 200 ppt.

It is known that the Ministry of Defense has decided to approve the project, assigning the High Command of Chemistry to lead the implementation. And the National Action Center for the handling of toxic chemicals - the environment has chosen landfill technology, isolating; At the same time, continuing to study and propose progressing to thoroughly treat the amount of Agent Orange / dioxin contaminated soil in accordance with the economic and technical conditions in Vietnam.

This project is expected to be carried out within 200 years ./.
