Beauty of “Moon Rock Beach” in Hang Rai - Nui Chua (Ninh Thuan)

27 September 2024 | 07:04:00 AM

Hang Rai (Otter Cave), located South of Vinh Hy Bay, is part of Nui Chua National Park and is renowned for its pristine natural beauty, particularly its ancient, cratered rock formations that resemble the Moon’s surface.

Nui Chua National Park, located in Ninh Hai district, Ninh Thuan province, has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve. Within the park, tourists may find Vinh Hy bay, Binh Tien beach, Stone park, Nui Chua peak, Lo O stream, and many other wonders. Among these, Hang Rai is considered a hidden gem within the park and a popular tourist destination. (In the photo: A bird’s eye view of Hang Rai)

Photographer Tuan Dao from Ha Noi noted that Hang Rai has retained its pristine beauty, but there has been a marked improvement in terms of cleanliness and order. Furthermore, a new red wooden walkway has been constructed along the coast, making it easier and safer for visitors to explore.

Hang Rai’s allure lies in its ancient rock formations, sculpted by millions of years of wave erosion and resembling the Moon’s surface. Photographers often gather here to capture breathtaking scenes, especially when the first rays of sunlight bathe the rocks in a golden glow.

The “Moon Rock Beach” is located at the central area of Hang Rai. “Moon rocks” are in fact an ancient coral reef, estimated to be thousands of years old, rising above the water like massive stone spears.

Beyond the main beach, Hang Rai offers a two-tiered rock formation that is often featured in promotional images. During high tides, the waves hit over rocks and then recede, resembling a small waterfall on the sea surface. However, this area is currently closed to visitors due to safety concerns.

As the sun sets, slanting rays of light cast long shadows of rocks across the beach, which is a captivating moment for tourists and photographers.

Many young people reach Hang Rai for artistic photoshoots.

Hang Rai is only about 35 kilometers from Phan Rang city center, and is accessible by car, motorbike, or local transportation services. The entrance fee is VND 50,000 per person. The best time to visit is from November to February.

In addition to Hang Rai, Nui Chua National Park offers other must-see attractions. Vinh Hy Bay, located about 40 kilometers from Phan Rang city center and 6 kilometers from Hang Rai, is characterized by limestone mountains, lush forests, and pristine coral reef. Visitors can enjoy activities like kayaking, snorkeling, and glass-bottom boat tours.

Tourists may also encounter bountiful vineyards along the roads, picking grapes, and purchasing local grape products.

On the way from Phan Rang city towards Nha Trang city, visitors will encounter wind turbines. This is also a famous check-in spot.
