Cuc Phuong National Park rescues hundreds of white pheasants

15 August 2025 | 06:48:00 AM

Hundreds of rescued white pheasants are being cared for and bred at Cuc Phuong National Park, with healthy, well-adapted birds set to be released back into the wild.

According to a representative of Cuc Phuong National Park, its Centre for Rescue, Conservation and Biological Development is currently caring for 214 rare white pheasants, including 36 males, 46 females, and 132 unsexed individuals.

Since the beginning of this year, Cuc Phuong National Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh has released 77 white pheasants into the wild, all bred and cared for at its rescue centre.

Before being released, each pheasant undergoes a health check and an assessment of its natural survival instincts. This is also a powerful message of environmental education, fostering love and a sense of responsibility for wildlife.

Meanwhile, the wild white pheasant population in Bach Ma National Park in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue has been on the rise thanks to effective conservation and breeding efforts.

Since July 1, the white pheasant has been reclassified to Group IIB, which restricts exploitation and commercial use.
