ASSOCIATION FOR CONSERVATION OF NATURE AND ENVIRONMENT OF DAK LAK PROVINCE OVER EVENTFUL YEAR OF 2008

07 August 2009 | 07:55:00 AM

Association for Nature and Environment of Dak Lak Province (Dak Lak ACNE) established 3 grassroots units of ACNE in some localities, including: Tu An Ward in Buon Ma Thuot City, with 7 members and 78 volunteers; Cuor Dang Commune in Cu Mgar District, with 7 members and 82 volunteers; Ea Edrong Commune in Cu Mgar District, with 7 members and 120 volunteers.

To respond to the World Environment Day on 5th June, 2008 Dak Lak ACNE launched a propaganda campaign for a Green-Clean-Beautiful Day. Tu An Ward’s Fatherland Front, 7 Party cells and 270 people actively participated in cleaning 7 quarters in Tu An Ward, Buon Ma Thuot City. This provincial Association printed and delivered to local people’s committees, agencies and communities 8,300 leaflets about law of conservation of nature and environment. Also, Dak Lak ACNE coordinated with Department of Education and Training to organize contests of “My Green-Clean-Beautiful School” in 4 primary schools in the province.
Dak Lak ACNE organized training courses and workshops on law of conservation of nature and environment for the staff at grassroots level. Attendees in these training courses and workshops discovered and criticized any households, government offices, or especially any state-owned businesses that cause environmental pollution to local areas. They also offered solutions to overcome environmental pollution and submitted petitions to higher authorities. Dak Lak ACNE worked with Mr. Yklong Nie, Deputy Director of Rubber Processing Factory about the breakage of waste-water tank polluting the artesian waters in 4 surrounding villages, and carried out a survey of the polluted area including 10 ha of fish ponds, drinking and running water sources for 1,000 households in lower section of Eadrong – Cum’gar stream.
On the 20th anniversary of VACNE (26/11/1988-26/11/2008) and the 5th Congress, Mr. Nguyen Cong Ba, Chairman of Dak Lak ACNE was elected to the 5th Central Executive Board for the term of 2008-2013.
