Attending and having fun with the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam, Mr. Lam Minh Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Council, Mr. Dinh Khoa Toan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Phu Quoc City, leaders of Phu Quoc National Park and a large number of local people. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, President of the VACNE and Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council attended and directly awarded the Certificate of Recognition of Vietnam Heritage Trees to representatives of leaders of Phu Quoc National Park and localities with Heritage Trees.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tiep, Director of Phu Quoc National Park said: Phu Quoc National Park is a place to preserve and embellish the unique values of natural landscapes, ecosystems and specific habitats; preserving the genetic resources of endemic, endangered and rare species.
"Today's ancient trees are recognized as Vietnamese heritage trees in order to spread the unique values of nature, help conservation and people's awareness of forest protection, environmental protection, and the role of trees in life. In addition, this is also about preserving the genetic resources of large trees, creating an ecological environment, associated with historical and cultural values and developing local tourism," Mr. Tiep said.
Phu Quoc National Park is also a national natural heritage of the Kien Giang World Biosphere Reserve recognized by UNESCO in 2006. The park has a total area of special-use forests and protection forests of about 36,000 hectares.
