West Lake’s new look after being dredged

26 October 2017 | 10:17:00 AM

The West Lake has had a new look after the project to dredge it has almost been finished.

The dredging work at the most polluted part of the lake running from Thanh Nien to Nguyen Dinh Thi streets has been completed after three months.

The project carried out by the lake management board has helped to remove the mud which had existed for many years in the lake bed as the result of the pollution and operations of floating restaurants.

Rafts of plants float on the lake to help improve the water quality after the mass fish deaths in October last year

2.15 hectares of the West Lake have been dredged so far

Two floating restaurants have not yet been removed as instructed by local authorities

Up to 30,000 cubic metres of mud has been dredged
