Vietnam’s two first Green Label products to be announced

On January 27, at Fortuna Hotel, Hanoi, the Vietnam Environment Administration (under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) is going to announce the two first products that met the Vietnam Green Label criteria.
P&G Company’s washing powder Tide and Dien Quang Company’s fluorescent lamps are the first two products to be part of the green label pilot program and to meet the Vietnam Green Label criteria.
To achieve environmental effectiveness, the Vietnam Green Label Program is going to evaluate the capabilities of products and consumer services to control and reduce negative influences on the environment during the whole product life cycle.
Accordingly, environmental benefits that each product can bring from reducing discharge of pollutants, hazardous substances into the environment during exploitation of materials, manufacturing, trading, consumption, and disposal of a relevant product or a consumer service will be reviewed and evaluated on the basis of criteria set for each type of product and consumer service.

Green Label Program was deployed nationwide since March, 2009, with the aim to improve and maintain the quality of the living environments by reducing consumption of energy and materials as well as reducing waste from production process, business, and consumption of products and services to serve life.
