23 August 2023 | 09:03:00 AM

(VACNE) - That is Prof. Dr. Dang Huy Huynh, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE), who has just arrived in Manila (Philippines) to attend the Forum honoring heroism and youth actions for ASEAN biodiversity.

This is an activity organized by the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity (ACB), on the occasion of the 56th ASEAN Day and International Youth Day, to honor modern-day nature conservation heroes and young communicators
in Southeast Asia (from 11 to 12 August 2023).

Dr Theresa Mundita Lim, CEO of ACB said, this is an opportunity for ASEAN Biodiversity Heroes to gather and share their conservation stories among media practitioners, storytellers, content creators, journalists and creative writers in the region.

At this forum, Senator Loren Legarda, President of the Interim Senate of the Republic of the Philippines, and ASEAN Biodiversity Hero gave information on the policy of finding young Biodiversity Heroes in the region. She affirmed the role of young people in maintaining biodiversity, which is very important to maintain a balanced life not only in the Philippines but also in ASEAN.

Senator Legarda also expressed hope that the initiative would be replicated in other ASEAN countries—Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
