16 February 2012 | 02:51:00 PM
(VNA)-A project, which is carried out in 11 cities and provinces nationwide between 2011 and 2015, is expected to improve the environment in seriously polluted areas in these localities.
The localities are the northern provinces of Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Lang Son, Nam Dinh and Thai Binh and the central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri.
As part of the national target programme to manage and improve environmental pollution during the 2011-2015 period, the project will help reduce pollution caused by chemicals in these areas during wartime.
In the near future, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will also build a treatment centre for hazardous wastes in the central region worth VND2 trillion (USD92.73 million).
