Two NGOs in Vietnam and Korea held a workshop and discuss solutions to collaborate in processing Agent Orange / Dioxin after the war in Vietnam.

(VACNE) - On 07.09.2014, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in Hanoi, majority of scientists of Vietnam and Korea attended the seminar to share information and discuss solutions to trial processing contaminated soil orange / Dioxin US leaved behind the war in Vietnam.



This is the scientific co-operation between VACNE and the biological Company BJC, Korea, to develop the project "Community cooperation and trial process, redressing Dioxin result from the war in Vietnam" that the two sides signed a memorandum a year ago, with the consent of the functional agencies of the two countries.

Attending the workshop, there are leaders and representatives of the Vietnam Union of  Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA); Viet Nam Environment Agency (VEA), the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE); Scientific National Academy of Vietnam; Korea Rural Corporation Community (KRC), Institute of Oceanography, Korea Institute of Toxicology .

At this conference, scientists have informed each other about the results of latest research in this field, as well as residual dioxin situation in Vietnam; its consequences on the environment and humans. In particular, the delegates also directly exchanged on solutions of dioxin treatment technology using microbiological methods of mutual interest; as well as the difficulties to be overcome in project implementation in A Luoi.

At the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, VACNE President and Mr. Yong Seok Choi, President of BJC expressed joy, determination to implement the project as agreed one year ago.
