This is the first time Vinh Long province (after the merger) had an ancient tree recognized as a Heritage Tree of Vietnam. This achievement is the result of the unity and collaboration between the people, the government, and experts throughout the process of building the application, especially during the merger of the province and the implementation of the two-tier government.
The recognition of two hundred-year-old Banyan trees in An Hiep commune as Vietnam Heritage Trees not only affirms the historical, cultural and ecological values of the locality, but also opens up opportunities for sustainable development of eco-spiritual tourism for Vinh Long in the future.
