The project "Strengthening the adaptive capacity to climate change for the agricultural community" due VACNE coordination with SIWI implementation is essential

(VACNE)-On 22/01/2013, in Hanoi, TS. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, President VACNE and Dr. Mats Eriksson, representive of the International Water Institute of Sweden (SIWI) hosted the Inception Workshop "Strengthening the capacity to cope with climate change for the agricultural community as the Red River Delta and Mekong "



This is due VACNE activity and coordinate with SIWI organize and the implementate in three provinces: Henan, Thai Binh, Vinh Long, this year. As the first project aims to: improve and create a community initiative, in response to climate change. So, the conference has attracted a large number of environmental activists, representatives of FAO, media agencies, industry representatives and local participation


Opening the seminar, Ms. Maria Salin, Counselor of the Embassy of Sweden, in charge of Development has expressed her pride is supported cooperative project between SIWI with VACNE right in the beginning to work in VietnamSouth; same time hope to expand cooperation and create more sustainable connection between SIWI and VACNE in the future.

After listening to the Dr.. Mats Eriksson introduced target and details projects; Dr.  Nguyen Van Viet presented an introduction to the "Status of the impact of climate change and adaptation options in Vietnam"participants contribute their frank opinions and heart.

Confirmed the necessity of the project and agreed with the objectives set out, people say  strategic needs associated with and response to climate change scenarios, to avoid duplication and waste. This is a small project, should take advantage of the results of research scientists, as well as local knowledge and long experience of the people to build real models, local matches. Program and through this cooperation not only gained the scientific method of assessing the impact of climate change based on a new approach ... but the local Vietnam draw lessons for community international response to climate change
