Straw burning rampant in Thua Thien-Hue

Straw burning has remained prevalent in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, causing air pollution.
The problem has been found in different areas in Thua Thien-Hue.
These days, it is easy to see straw burning in the area between Hue City and Phu Vang District, near many main roads and residential areas.

Ton That Dai Duong in Thuan Loc Ward in Hue City said that smoke has even spread to the Hue Citadel area, the Perfume River and Truong Tien Bridge.
Straw is often burnt in late afternoons.
Nguyen Van Chinh, Vice Chairman of The Phu Vang People's Committee, said that local authorities have requested people not to burn straw in their fields. The locality has 50 straw balers to help the burning. Localities have been urged to strictly fine straw burning.
Thua Thien-Hue People’s Committee has said localities need to tighten control over straw burning. Straw after harvest is either left in the fields to decompose naturally, or baled for use in production and livestock.
