Small projects but the results are not small

(VACNE) - That was the comment of Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, VACNE President, Chairman of the National Steering Committee of Small projects funded by the Global Environment Fund (GEF SGP) in the Opening Speech at the Workshop - Exhibition Green Initiatives held by UNDP at the UN building in Hanoi.

According to the Chairman of the Steering Committee, with 150 projects have been implemented during the past 17 consecutive years, stretching back across the regions "sensitivity" of natural resources and the environment, mainly focusing on the selected goals, with the actively responded of the authorities and the local community, the GEF SGP projects have made no small contribution to the response to climate change, strengthen management natural resources and environmental protection of the country.
In the welcome speech, the representative of UNDP welcomed the efforts of the local community of project implementation. Mr. Hao Liang Xu, Director of UNDP of the Asian - Pacific region has awarded certificates to the collectives and individuals for excellence in the implementation of GEF SGP project.
The seminar participants heard representatives of the local communities presentating about the projects:
-Use Solar energy in production of fish sauce, Ha Tinh
-Use LEDs in fishing, Ninh Thuan
- Solar boat, Cham Chim National Park, Dong Thap
- Agriculture smart, Bac Lieu
-Agriculture Smart, Binh Dinh, and
-Mobile electricity, the Red River in Hanoi.
The delegates visited the exhibition of the projects being implemented in 2015-2016.
The talks and discussions were very lively, practical and engaging communities properly. Many ethnic girls with typical costumes also use English fluently in dealing with the international guests.
