21 August 2009 | 02:46:00 PM

(VietNamNet Bridge) – At three in the morning, hundreds of shabbily-dressed people flock to the Nam Son dumping ground in Soc Son district to pick through garbage in the dim light. Minh Tri captures their night life

Nam Son is the largest rubbish ground in Hanoi. It receives thousands of tonnes of waste per day. Rubbish is mainly treated by burial.

According to the rubbish ground’s management board, waste collectors are allowed to enter the dumping ground after 3am.

Hundreds of people are living on this dumping ground. They can earn from 30,000 to 80,000 dong per day by selling scrap to rubbish traders.
