MCD celebrates its 5 years of blue miles development

The Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD), a member of Vietnam Marine Science and Technology Association (VIMASTA) celebrated its 5 years of development (2003-2008) on July 2 at Horrison hotel, Hanoi.

 


 

 

 

The guests at the ceremony  were representatives of government and central management organizations and agencies, local partners at MCD project sites including provinces of Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Ninh Thuan, media agencies, non-govermental organisations, and other MCD friends and partners.

Deputy Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and VIMASTA chairman Nguyen Viet Thang said that he highly appreciated MCD activities and its achievements in the last five years, especially MCD efforts to cooperate with government agencies to address marine environment issues and improve life of the poor coastal communites.

"Five years is an important milestone remarking changes and mature of an organisation",  said Mrs Nguyen Thu Hue, MCD director. "This ceremony honored all of us who are making a small contribution to the sustainable development of the country, especially the coastal communities playing an important role in sustainable development of the marine and coastal areas".

Acknowledging MCD contribution in coastal areas, Khanh Hoa Department of Environment Resources Vice Director Mai Van Thang said that very few NGO has gained such achievements as MCD has done for Van Hung community and Trao Reef Marine Reserve in Khanh Hoa province.

"Nam Phu has many potentialities in ecotourism thanks to Con Vanh beach, Tien Hai Nature Reserve is rich in biodiversity. We believe that with MCD help we will develop our local strength by taking part in the current and future MCD project" said Mrs Pham Thi Ngu, Vice Chairwoman of Nam Phu commune, Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province.

The reporter of Vietnam The Nation News Mrs Tran Thi Oanh added "MCD was sucessful in making their celebration memorable and impressive to the delegates. I am so impressive about MCD activites in the last five years which is presented to audience in a creative way through their lovely photos. I love MCD young and dynamic style very much."

This celebration is also a good opportunity for MCD to express our gratitute for all of MCD partners, friends for their support and encouragement during the last five years and to develop a long-term cooperation and relationship in the future
