Ba Vi mountain consists of three peaks: Hung King (Ancestral King of Viet people) peak with 1300m high, Son Tinh (Mountainous Deity and Hung King's son-in-law also) peak 1200m high, Princess Ngoc Hoa (Hung King's youngest princess and Son Tinh Mountainous Deity's wife) with 1100m high, covered by a thick primitive jungle. In 1990, this mountainous forest has been recognized and called as Ba Vi National Park under the authority of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The national park and surrounding buffer area are largely meaningful of not only the economy but also the ecology, environment if well preserved and conserved. The gene sources of the park (including the flora, fauna and microorganism) are a base for establishing a natural foodstuff zone which ensures safe and clean so that to supply to the entire inhabitants of Ha Noi Capital expanded.
In Ba Vi primative forest, since 1886, a French botanist Balanse had studied, collected here over 5,000 specimens to list on the dictionary of Indochina Botany.
By the initial inspection, Ba Vi National Park has 812 species of high-class plants, belonging to 427 branches, 98 families. If making more thorough inspection, there are still about over 2,000 species, when the forest was destroyed seriously from cos 400m downwards. In which, there are 280 species of herbal medicine for the diseases such as mental disorder, stomachache, intestinal pain, digestive troubles, malaria, rheumatism, bitten by poisonous snake. There are here, many species of beautiful and precious orchid beside the rose, chrysanthemum, etc., blooming by the season..
     
Có những cây đặc hữu chỉ có Ba Vì mới có như Bách xanh, Bời lời, Da Thủ pháp...Ba vì hiện còn 70 loài thú cho da và thịt, 35 loài làm thuốc, có 114 loài chim, có một số loài quý hiếm như: Gấu, Báo gấm, Sóc bay, Gà lôi trắng...
