Hoi An enjoys one more day without motor sounds

18 February 2011 | 03:01:00 PM

According to Mr. Le Quang Trung; Chairman of the Minh An Ward people's Committee in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province; starting Feb 15th, 2011, in addition to Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, Tuesdays will be also included to the days without motor sounds in the old town of Hoi An City.

These "motor free" days were initiated to make the old town more attractive and to boost tourism in Hoi An city.

On the above mentioned week-days, all motor-vehicles are forbidden to operate in the old town of Hoi An City from  8:00 - 11:00, 14:00 - 16:30, and 18:30 - 21:00, in order to better serve tourists enjoying the city. Only bicycles and pedicabs are allowed to operate in the area. This measure has made Hoi An more attractive to domestic as well as foreign tourists. The city is currently preparing to implement a law to make all week-days "motor free" in the near future.
