70m age-old tree certified as national heritage


The Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment Thursday certified an age-old evergreen coniferous tree on the upper Khe Bu River in the central Nghe An province as a “Vietnam Heritage Tree.”

The "Than Rua" (Holy Turtle) Banian Tree growing at the foot of the Ba Vi Mountain (Hanoi) is the first ancient tree registered as a Vietnam Heritage Tree


A month after the Vietnam Heritage Trees Recognition Event was launched; the VACNE office received a new tree registration from Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh, the janitor of the communal house in Rua (Turtle) Village, Van Hoa Commune, Ba Vi District. He requested that VACNE recognizes the "Than Rua" banian tree (Ficus bengalensis) as a Vietnam heritage tree.
