Green Technology Park project launched

A ground-breaking ceremony for the building of a modern waste treatment complex in Thu Thua district in the Mekong Delta province of Long An was held on November 9.
The Green Technology Park project implemented by the Vietnam Waste Solutions Inc. (VWS) has a total investment capital of US$500 million in the first phase.
The project covers a total area of 1,760 hectares and can treat 40,000 tonnes of waste a day. It aims to treat domestic and industrial waste from southern key economic cities and provinces.
Deputy Minister of Construction Cao Lai Quang said that the project is very important to the southern key economic region towards sustainable development and environmental safety. It contributes to realizing the national strategy on solid waste management by 2025 with a vision to 2050.
David Duong, General Director of VWS hoped that the project will be a success and will help attract more investment to environmental protection from overseas Vietnamese.
On the occasion, VWS offered 20 computers and 50 scholarships for poor but well-performed students and VND50 million for pensioners’ fund in Long An province.
