The workshop aims to increase cooperation among SEA people’s organizations in coping with challenges, ensuring sustainable fisheries development and improving life of fisherfolks in the SEA region. This is an opportunity to advocate for ASEAN and SEA governments’ awareness, interest and actions, recommendations for solutions of fisherfolks’ issues in SEA region, to ensure their livelihoods, safety and security.
Issues to be discussed during the workshop:
· Fisheries resources reduction and over-exploitation with increasing social conflicts and food insecurity
· Fisheries and Trade issues
· Climate Change impacts fisheries
· Fisherfolks’ safety and fishing conditions in the South China Sea
· Weak voice and participation of small-scale fisherfolks in the fisheries management and gender inequity
