First two non-governmental organizations signed an agreement on handling Dioxin remained from the war in Vietnam

(VACNE) - On 22/09/2014, in Hanoi, the heads of the Viet Nam Association For Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) and BJC - Bio company in Korea has signed a MOU on cooperation in handling dioxin remained from the war in the territory of Vietnam.


This is the first non-governmental organizations of both countries, committed to working together for handling Agent Orange Dioxin sprayed by the Americans in the Vietnam War, it has attracted the attention of scientists and the authorities of the two countries.
 

 


To witness the signing ceremony, there were Dr. Pham Van Tan, Vice President and General Secretary  of Vietnam  Union of Science and Technology Associations; Dr. Nguyen The Dong, Deputy General Director of the Viet Nam Environmental Angency; Dr. Do Nam Thang, Deputy Director of Department of International Cooperation Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; Mr. Nguyen Truong Khoa, deputy director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quang Tri province, the majority of leaders and activists VACNE environment of Vietnam and Korea.

 


Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, VACNE President  and Mr. Yong-seok, Choi - President of BJC Custom Co., Ltd. and Assoc. Dr. Le Bac Huynh, VACNE General Secretary and Dr. Sang. Jin Kim, University Oceanographic Technology of Korea  signed the MOU.


MOU was not only focus on cooperation in handling dioxin contaminated soil by micro-technology that is the strength of the BJC and VACNE, but both parties are also interested in technology consulting, increased capacity building and mobilizating indigenous community on cleaning the environment by the synthetic measures, creating  livelihood for local people and sustainable development for the areas that has been poisoned by dioxin.
