Officials call for halt to natural forest clearing

All projects that seek to use forest land for non-forestry purposes should be stopped and exploitation of natural forests should be suspended immediately in order to deal with rampant deforestation in the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) region, delegates agreed at a seminar held in Pleiku city.

A recycling and green consumption festival was held in the central coastal city of Da Nang on Sept. 15 in response to the campaign Clean up the World. President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Dang Ngoc Tung, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Hugh Borrowman and representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment attended the event.
