09 December 2014 | 03:00:00 PM

The Geotechnical Engineering Festival (GEOFEST) has been held in Langkawi archipelago in Kedah northwestern state, Malaysia.

Delegations from Satun Island (Thailand), Dong Van Stone Plateau (Viet Nam), Jeju Island (Republic of Korea), Indonesia and Malaysia shared information and experience in raising public and tourists’ awareness on natural preservation, bio-diversity and geo-diversity.

Viet Nam introduced some specialities of Ha Giang province and pictures and documents on Viet Nam’s Global Geological Park, the Dong Van Stone Plateau.

Vice Chairman of Ha Giang provincial People’s Committee Tran Duc Quy said at the event that the Vietnamese delegation has actively taken part in activities to promote tourism of Viet Nam, particularly Ha Giang province and learn experience in tourism development from regional countries.

Dong Van Karst Plateau officially joined the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) in October 2010 and readmitted to GGN in September 2014. This is not only a great honour to Ha Giang province but also its responsibility for preserving and promoting the heritage value of Dong Van Karst Plateau to international friends
