Danang hotel fined for environmental, food safety violations

17 September 2025 | 05:54:00 AM

Authorities have inspected a beachfront hotel in Danang and uncovered nine violations related to environmental and food safety regulations, fining the owning company nearly USD 23,500.

The four-star ChicLand Danang Beach Hotel located on Vo Nguyen Giap Street in An Hai Ward was recently found to have installed equipment, pipelines, and outlets to discharge untreated waste directly into the environment. Its waste treatment facility was also either left idle, operated irregularly, or run in violation of standard procedures.

It was also found dumping waste on sidewalks and roadways, and failing to sign contracts with licensed entities before transferring hazardous waste for treatment.

Its hazardous waste storage facilities were either absent or failed to meet technical standards. The company further failed to prepare, accurately complete, or submit mandatory environmental protection reports.

The hotel did not comply with, or only partially carried out, the requirements set out in its environmental impact assessment report as legally mandated.

In terms of food safety, the hotel failed to implement, or improperly implemented, the legally mandated three-step food inspection process and the requirements for retaining food samples.

The hotel’s investor was also ordered to dismantle unlawful facilities and equipment, remedy the pollution, restore the original condition, and report the results of compliance as required by law.
