Campaign launched to make world cleaner

20 September 2010 | 04:36:00 PM

(VietnamPlus)-A ceremony was held in the Red River Delta province of Bac Ninh on September 19 to launch a national campaign to make the world cleaner.

The event is part of the “Clean up the World” campaign which was first initiated by Australia in 1993 and is launched annually across the world by the UN’s Environment Programme on the third week of every September.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Thai Lai and Australian Ambassador Allaster Cox were among guests attending the event.

This year’s “Clean up the World” will include environmental protection activities in every organisation, family and locality in Bac Ninh province.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment also called on ministries and relevant agencies as well as community to pay attention to preserve biodiversity.

The same day, launching ceremonies were held in Ho Chi Minh City and the central coastal province of Phu Yen in response to the campaign.
