Trans-Vietnam Cycling Program for Environment to depart from Hanoi on July 13, 2011

On July, 13, a departure ceremony for Trans-Vietnam Cycling Program for Environment 2011 themed “Youth voices: Let’s protect forests” will take place in Hanoi. The program will be held by Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE) in collaboration with Actions for Environment Organization (AFEO) and Cycling for Environment (C4E).

Launching conference for two biosphere reserve projects in Cat Ba - Hai Phong

On July 14, 2011, in Cat Ba, Hai Phong, the Center for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) coordinated with UNESCO Office in Hanoi, the National Committee for the Man and Biosphere Program (MAB Vietnam) in Vietnam to hold a conference with the aim to launch two biosphere projects.

The Center for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) under Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment said it has successfully built 5 models to respond to climate change in Giao Thuy District, Nam Dinh Province, the place with high biodiversity (with Xuan Thuy National Park – The heart of the Biosphere Reserve of Red River Delta).

At the meeting on June 15, 2011, the Standing Committee of VACNE agreed to send some recommendations to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and some relevant state bodies to claim for the establishment of the position and promotion of strength of the community in the cause of environmental protection and sustainable development.

ADB finances climate resilience infrastructure...

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $60 million financing package to improve the climate resilience of transport and water supply infrastructure in Vietnam’s south-central coastal provinces of Binh Dinh and Quang Nam, especially in remote upland districts with large ethnic minority communities.
