They will focus on two issues: prevention of deforestation and forest degradation and protection of clean water sources.
Vietnam has so far received US$1.3 billion from foreign governments and non-profit organizations for climate-change projects.
The money will be used to mitigate the direct impacts on people’s life, especially that of floods and inundation in cities and provinces in the Mekong and Red Deltas and coastal regions. It will also be used to protect and upgrade forests.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha said the world is considering socio-economic development strategies that are environment-friendly.
Many developed countries are likely to come up with policies to prevent emission of greenhouse gases, such as imposing taxes on carbon emissions.
Vietnam has to follow the global trend to prevent climate change and global warming, he added.
Every year, nearly one billion tons of carbon-dioxide is discharged into the environment, causing serious pollution and global warming.
