VACNE cooperates with units of Thanh Hoa province to organize the launching ceremony in response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2023

(VACNE) - On the evening of March 25, at Lam Son Square, Thanh Hoa City, VACNE, the Electronic Journal of Nature and Environment, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa City, the Department of Industry and Trade, and Thanh Hoa Electricity Company held a launching ceremony. in response to the 2023 Earth Hour Campaign.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Le Cong Luong, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, VACNE President, Mr. Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and departments, branches, units and businesses in Thanh Hoa province.

Earth Hour is an initiative of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), to raise public awareness about energy saving, environmental protection and climate change around the world. Earth Hour is launched every year on the last Saturday of March. This event is an activity where electrical appliances are turned off for a period of 60 minutes. 
 

 

Mr. Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and Dr. Le Cong Luong, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and delegates to the Earth Hour 2023 campaign. 

This is the 15th year of the Earth Hour Campaign being implemented in Vietnam in general and in Thanh Hoa province in particular. This year's Earth Hour theme is "Save electricity - Make it a habit". With this message, the organizers want all people, communities and businesses in the province to join hands to protect the environment, save energy, save electricity, towards a green future, developing lasting. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. TSKH, ASEAN Biodiversity Hero Dang Huy Huynh, Vice President of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and Environment affirmed that the event was held for the first time since 2009. Earth Hour" in Vietnam up to now, in the process of operation, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment has always actively cooperated with sectors, mass organizations and local authorities in response activities. "Earth Hour". He also emphasized: Building positive habits like saving electricity is really not easy, but we have to work together every day, every hour, every minute, every second to save energy, for sustainable development. steady. 

 

Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Sinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Nature and Environment, Mr. Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee presented the painting to her, a student of Dong Tho Primary School, Thanh Hoa City. 

This year's Earth Hour campaign wants to convey and call on the community to take the following 10 practical and environmentally friendly actions right now, including: Limit the number of times the refrigerator door is opened and the time it opens. cabinet; make full use of available natural light; setting the right air-conditioner temperature; should watch 1 TV together, limit turning on many TVs at the same time; choose energy-saving devices such as: LED lights, solar water heaters, ...; limit single-use plastic bags; unplug electrical outlets when leaving the house or at night; turn off the motorcycle engine when the traffic light is longer than 16 seconds; Dispose of garbage in the right place and maintain public hygiene and actively plant trees when possible - at home, work and where you travel.

Responding to the Earth Hour Campaign, from 20:30 to 21:30, many organizations, businesses and households in the province have turned off the electricity. In Thanh Hoa city, the electro-optical equipment in Lam Son Square area has also been turned off.
