As scheduled, at the passenger ferry pier of Hon Gai Port, Phuc Thinh International Tourism JSC operated a fast ferry with sufficiency of terminal procedures, technical safety certificates, responsibility insurance, crew register, and firefighting instruments to bring the survey team through the route: Ha Long Bay passage – Tuan Chau-Gia Luan specialized passage – Lach Ngan passage – Dau Xuoi-Cua Van canal – Tung Gau-Cua Dong canal – Bai Beo-Ben Beo canal, at an average speed of 22.5 nautical miles per hour. Duration of the constant journey from Hon Gai Port to Ben Beo Pier was 43 minutes. According to the assessment of Transport Departments of Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, this new route would create opportunity for development of Cat Ba and Ha Long tourism. The two Transport Departments agreed to supplement signboards and floating beacons in order to guarantee safety of the whole journey.
As scheduled, the route will be officially opened on 26th April 2012. 5 fast ferries, including 3 forty-eight-seater, 1 fifty-eight-seater and 1 twenty-six-seater, will operate throughout the route.
