According to 2010 orientation plan, Binh Duong is aiming to resolve 100% of severe environment pollution. The province also plans to collect 83% of solid rubbish in the urban areas and 100% healthcare waste.
“The aim is 100% but only applicable to 82 enterprises which violate the rules in 2009. By 2010, the whole problems with those enterprises will resolve but by 2012, the whole province is expected to have some 500 environment violators. Therefore, punishment should be harder to control all cases,” said Department of Environment and Resources Director Pham Danh.
Meanwhile, party secretary to Thuan An Party Committee Tran Thanh Liem said that the environment pollution in district is out of control. By assessment, environment pollution is no easy issue in Binh Duong province where thousands of enterprises reside. Only half of the enterprises operate within Industrial Zone environment. The rest of them are out of the system and are lack of waste water processing system.
Functional agencies have struggled to control the problems but blacklisted sites of environment pollution keep emerging.
The public is now looking at Environment Protection Program 2007-10 approved by provincial authority. The year 2010 is coming near and there is no time to waste to resolve environment issues across Ba Bo channel, Xiep spring, and water source of Thi Tinh River.
However, the authorities will also take into consideration of small enterprises to prevent unexpected severe environment pollution. Besides, they will discuss methods to remove cases of environment pollution from residential areas to ensure the objectives of sustainable development.
