The giant two-stemmed Locust tree in the suburbs of Hanoi was honored as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree

(VACNE) - It is an ancient Barringtonia acutangula tree (500 years old), the root is deep in the soil, each branch is nearly 1 meter in diameter in Hoac Chau village, Chau Son commune, Ba Vi district - a small village along the Red River, far from the center. Hanoi city, 50 km northwest, has just been solemnly organized by the government and local community to install the Vietnamese Heritage Tree stele on the Great Unity of Ethnicities Festival (November 14, 2023).

Attending the ceremony and sharing joy with the local community were: Professor, Dr. Dang Huy Huynh, Vice President of VACNE; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ba Vi district; Mr. Le Minh Tuan, district commissioner, Chief of Office of the District People's Council, La Van Doan, Secretary of Chau Son commune, along with many leaders and representatives of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Natural Resources and Environment and the Fatherland Front Committee of Ba Vi district, Chau commune Son, Hoac Chau village and residents in the area.

Speaking after awarding the Diploma and attaching a stele recognizing the Vietnam Heritage Tree to the ancient Loc Vung tree, Professor Dang Huy Huynh, ASEAN Biodiversity Hero, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Natural Resources and Environment, expressed his joy, before The community's enthusiastic response to the Heritage Tree conservation movement, including people from Hoac Chau village.

In the opening speech of Mr. Phung Trong Duc, Head of the Fatherland Front Working Committee, and the Report on the history of the ancient Loc Vung tree by Ms. Ta Thi Kieu Trang, Head of Hoac Chau village, both expressed their joy and thanks for their attention.
