Northern and central Vietnam face widespread heatwave

29 July 2025 | 07:04:00 AM

Northern and central localities of Vietnam are experiencing a widespread heatwave, with temperatures reaching a high of 37 degrees Celsius.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reports that on July 28, most of northern Vietnam, excluding Lai Chau and Dien Bien, would remain hot, with highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius, and some areas exceeding 37 degrees Celsius.

The heatwave is forecast to expand on July 29 to include Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, as well as the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa.

The hot weather in the northern region may last until July 31 or August 1, while in the central region, it could persist for several more days.

Over the next two days, humidity is expected to range from 55 to 60 per cent, with hot weather prevailing from 11 am to 4 pm.

Since the beginning of this year, seven widespread heatwaves have been recorded across the country.
