20 August 2023 | 08:30:00 AM

A group of young people in the central province of Nghe An have cleaned a seriously-polluted local lake.

Vinh Lake in Vinh City has been polluted by a great amount of rubbish. The lake surface is full of waste, including nylon bags and plastic bottles, affecting the drainage, particularly during the rainy season.

A team of students from some local universities and high schools have voluntarily collected rubbish on the lake.

Dang Thong Hung from Vinh University said that he hoped that his group would convey an environmental protection messages to the community.

Each member of the team is equipped with protective gloves and clothes for the work.

After being gathered, the waste will be transported to dumping sites.

According to Hung, his group earlier collected litter at different spots, including Cua Lo Beach, Vinh Tan Lake and Song Lam Dyke.

Vinh, the largest lake in Vinh City, is regarded as the city’s green lung.
