The project “Establishment of Carbon-Cycle-System with Natural Rubber” was signed in Hanoi yesterday by the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
The project aims to help Vietnam realise a plan to replace synthetic rubber made from fossil resources with natural rubber, and reduce exhaust fumes which create the greenhouse effect.
The project is composed of five research teams of leading scientists from Nagaoka University of Technology in Japan, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the Rubber Research Institute of Vietnam.
Tsuno Motonori, JICA Chief Representative in Vietnam, applauds the project for its awareness of environmental protection saying that “natural rubber is a ’green material’ and products made from it are environmentally friendly. In that sense, the project will contribute to sustainable development in Vietnam.”
The technical assistance project will last five years from 2011 to 2016.
