(VACNE) – This is the speech of Ms. Tran Tue Hien, President of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee at the Recognition Ceremony of 162 ancient trees in Ma Da forest, Dong Phu district on December 9, 2023.

The Mrs. President would like to thank the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment for their dedicated support for Binh Phuoc to have the 2nd Heritage Tree population after Bu Gia Fat National Park 1 year ago.

Attending this solemn ceremony were nearly 1,500 delegates from all parts of the country, including many scientists and nearly 80 veteran generals. Among the hundreds of congratulatory flowers were those of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Comrades: Nguyen Van Should, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education; Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

The reason why the Ceremony of Welcoming the Certificate of recognition of 162 Vietnamese Heritage Trees in Ma Da forest, Dong Phu district, Binh Phuoc province is paid attention to and solemnly organized by society, because this is part of War Zone D – a national historical site of Vietnam, a heroic land in the resistance war against foreign invaders for national independence. The ancient trees of Ma Da forest are recognized as Vietnamese Heritage Trees this time, belonging to 15 species and all over 200 years old, including 7 trees over 1,000 years old. These are witnesses of history, living entities that have been connecting the past with the present and the future.

Awarding the Certificate of Merit to collectives and outstanding individuals in forest management and protection in sub-area 379, Tan Hoa commune, Dong Phu district, Lieutenant General Ben Xuan Truong and Ms. Chairman of Binh Phuoc People's Committee both affirmed that this is a very practical and deeply meaningful activity. Conserving Heritage Trees not only protects nature and the environment but also preserves the history, traditions and culture of Vietnamese people. This mission is not only for today's generation, but also continues to pass it on to generations to come. At the same time, they also expressed their hope that this place will become a tourist highlight; become an educational point on history, nature and environment protection for sustainable national development.
