Hanoi rolls out first electric bike rental service

13 November 2025 | 05:34:00 AM

Hanoi will launch its first electric bike rental service later this month with 500 e-bikes operated by Tri Nam Digital Transport JSC.

A Tri Nam representative said the e-bikes will be available at the company’s public bicycle stations across many streets in the capital. The firm plans to expand the fleet to between 2,000 and 5,000 e-bikes in the first quarter of 2026, focusing on areas within belt roads 1 and 2.

Each e-bike is expected to make about five trips a day, totalling 90 million rides a year. Rental rates start at VND 20,000 (approximately USD 0.75), for 30 minutes and VND 35,000 (approximately USD 1.35), for one hour, with discounts for regular users.

The expansion aims to reduce fuel-powered motorbikes, support a green and smart transport network, and encourage a more eco-friendly public transport system.

Tri Nam first launched Hanoi’s public bicycle service in August 2023 with 1,000 bikes at 79 stations connected to bus stops, parks and tourist sites to improve accessibility for residents and visitors.
