Human trafficking is a global problem that has required close coordination among nations around the world. The UK is one of the countries currently working most closely with Vietnam in the fight against this serious crime.

Since March, the UK Embassy has coordinated with relevant agencies to carry out a series of communication activities to raise public awareness of the prevention and control of human trafficking, with the assistance of H’hen Nie.

The programmed aimed to convey a message, advising people to select legal migration routes for both their own benefit and the that of their families.

The communication consists of three stages: planting communication boards in Nghe An Province to promote free 24/7 support services provided by the 111 hotline to support victims of human trafficking; installing communication boards at international airports to help people realise the risks involved in illegal migration; and a short video with the participation of UK Ambassador Gareth Ward and Miss Universe 2017 H’hen Nie that will be broadcast across national television channels.

The UK Ambassador to Vietnam said that the fight against human trafficking and modern slavery continues to be one of the UK Government's priorities.

Miss Universe H’hen Nie expressed her hope that people can understand and equip themselves with the necessary knowledge to avoid falling into the trap of trafficking offenses.
