Establishment of the Vietnam Biofuel Association

28 November 2011 | 02:32:00 PM

On November 11, 2011, at My Dinh National Convention Center (Hanoi), the Vietnam Biofuel Association was established. The event was witnessed by representatives of a number of line ministries, research institutes, biofuel production and trading corporates and enterprises, and media.

This is the first socio-professional association in the field of biofuel in Vietnam. It aims at economic development, contribution to ensuring energy safety, and actively protecting the environment. A program as well as orientation adopted at the establishing ceremony have addressed a number of issues like striving to fully provide ethanol for the Vietnamese market by 2016 (i.e. 250,000 tons of E5 gasoline and 500,000 tons of E10 gasoline) and, at the same time, spare a certain amount of fuel for export, step-by-step to fully satisfy the needs of biodiesel, actively influencing fuel prices, harmonically ensuring benefits of fuel producers and consumers, and raising community awareness on the benefits of using biofuels. The association will especially collaborate with relevant sectors and social organizations in consulting the Government on elaborating projects and concrete policies to encourage production and promote extended use of biofuel. These activities would effectively improve peasant lives and, at the same time, contribute to ensuring fuel safety and the protection of the environment.
