Cooperation Vietnam - Denmark: Improving efficiency of program to adapt and mitigate Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Program

MONRE Deputy Minister Tran Hong Ha had a meeting with the Deputy Head of Mission of Denmark Lis Rasmussen Rosenholm on the implementation of the program adaptation and climate change mitigation (CCAM) on 19/10 in Hanoi. The meeting was attended by representatives of the departments under the Ministry and leaders of Quang Nam and Ben Tre provinces.

Deputy Minister Tran Hong Ha expressed his pleasure at the results achieved in the process of cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark in the field of climate change in the recent time. He wished the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Danish Embassy will promote cooperation and efficiency  and work more closely in implementing programs to adapt and mitigate climate change.
Danish Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Lis Rasmussen Rosenholm thanked the cooperation of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Quang Nam and Ben Tre provinces in the coordination and  implementation of the program in a diverse and comprehensive manner. She agreed with the proposal of the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to continue to expand relationships, in the field of  formulation, research and implementation of   programs on climate change in Vietnam.
According to the Agreement between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Denmark on the CCAM Program, funds sponsored by the Danish government will be used by the Vietnamese government to execute the  National Target Program to respond to climate change by Ministry of Natural Resources and & Environment; the National Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency by  the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The climate change adaptation component will support the implementation of National Target Program  on  Climate Change Response nationally and   in particular in Ben Tre and Quang Nam, the two provinces most vulnerable by climate change. The objective of the component is to improve the capacity and efficiency to cope with climate change in Vietnam in order to ensure sustainable development, help people avoid these adverse effects, prevent and reduce the risk of Climate change.
