A Series of Environment Events in June

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) announced that the year 2011 was declared the International Year of Forests by the United Nation Environment Program (UNEP) to promote better management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests, reduce deforestation and the degradation of forests.

 
 

 

 

 
 
To respond to this event, on June 5-6, 2011 in Bac Kan, MONRE will cooperate with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Bac Kan People's Committee to organize a series of activities such as the Vietnam Forest Exhibition, a seminar on wetland and biodiversity conservation in response to the international year of forest, a ceremony to give the RAMSAR Certification to the Ba Be Lake to certify that the Ba Be Lake is among three international important wetlands of Vietnam.
Also on the occasion of the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week and the International Ocean Day, on June 1-8, 2011, MONRE will cooperate with the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Information and Communication, Khanh Hoa People's Committee, the Vietnam Television to organize a ceremony to respond to the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week, a record-breaking show entitled "Holding hand to make a greater circle", a 3rd forum on Vietnam's sea brand name, a meeting of mainland management leaders, a 2nd sea economic forum.
In addition, MONRE has announced the completion of the 2nd National Announcement of United National Framework Convention on Climate Change sent to the Convention Secretary Board in United Nation Climate Change Conference COP16 in Cancun, Mexico in December 2010. At the same time, the ministry said that it is seeking donors to implement the 3rd National Announcement on Climate Convention during 2012-2015 period.

ADB finances climate resilience infrastructure...
