(VACNE) - The banyan tree at Thong temple and the pine tree at the Thuong temple in the complex of Tay Thien - Tam Dao special national historical and scenic sites were solemnly organized by the People's Committee of Tam Dao district together with local units to welcome the recognition of Vietnamese Heritage Trees in conjunction with the launching event of tree planting in 2024 of Vinh Phuc province on the morning of the day 16/12/2023.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice President of Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee, leaders of District Party Committees, People's Committees, People's Councils of Tam Dao district and more than 300 relatives and local people.
On behalf of the leaders of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment, Prof. Dr. Dang Huy Huynh, Chairman of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council attended and presented the Certificate of Recognition of Heritage Trees to representatives of local leaders.
Mr. Luu Duc Long, Secretary of the District Party Committee and Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong, Chairman of Tam Dao District People's Committee both expressed their gratitude to the Association, because the event honoring the Vietnamese Heritage Tree for the banyan tree at Thong temple and the pine tree at the Thuong temple was not only a useful activity, preserving flora and rare genetic resources but also enhancing the value of this special complex of National Historic Sites and Scenic Spots.
Mr. Do Quoc Trong, Head of the Management Board of Tay Thien Scenic Area and officials of the Board all hope that the Association will continue to pay attention and approve the addition of some ancient trees that are Vietnamese Heritage Trees at the Monument on the occasion of next year's festival.
